Hospitality Committee

The hospitality committee gives thanks to the Lord by helping fill the hungry with good things.

We are made up of ladies who are happy to give of their time and talents to enrich fellowship functions and make them appealing to the members of our congregation.

Our typical year starts out with one of the biggest fellowship functions, our Valentine Banquet.  We use all the good china and beautiful decorations, serving a multi-course meal to about 100 people and organizing an entertaining program to accompany the meal.

Other regular spring functions include serving lunch for the Ministerial Alliance, hosting snacks and lunch for the annual Bible Retreat weekend, planning a ladies’ luncheon with motivational speaker for Mother’s Day, and co-sponsoring a chili cook off contest and meal as a Men’s Ministry fund-raiser.

Our summertime efforts focus on seeing that the VBS children have a fun time with snacks that tie in to the theme of their lessons and allow them to experiment with the preparation of snacks.

In the fall we organize a Chapel picnic, and this year we’ll also hold a pancake breakfast.

We end the year with our immensely popular Christmas Progressive Dinner in early December.

Additionally, the Hospitality Committee hosts the Sunday morning coffee service during fellowship time following the Worship Service. Several other events come up during the year that are not on the revolving calendar, and we also assist the Membership Care Special Needs / Food Service Committee with the preparation and hosting of meals or receptions for funerals and similar events.

All it takes to be a part of the Hospitality Committee is a willingness to do for the Chapel some of the same things you do in your home, such as decorate, cook, serve and cleanup.  You will be surprised how appreciative the congregation is for these efforts.
